SadaPure Brown Rice Flour is a single-grain flour for rice roti, cheela, pancakes and batters. Its mild, nutty flavour gives you another way to cook with whole-grain rice. Choose 1 kg, 2 kg or 3 kg.

What is brown rice flour?

Brown rice flour is made by grinding brown rice, which retains the bran layer removed when making white rice. It has a light beige colour and a mild, nutty taste. It is a different ingredient from wheat atta and from a mixed multigrain flour.

How to cook with brown rice flour

Rice flour does not form the elastic dough that wheat does. For roti, use a recipe designed for rice flour, add water gradually and make small rounds. Warm or hot-water methods can help the dough hold together; let it cool until safe to handle before kneading.

For cheela or pancakes, whisk the flour into a smooth batter and cook thoroughly on both sides. For cakes, bread or biscuits, follow a rice-flour recipe rather than replacing all the wheat flour by weight: the liquid and binding ingredients may need to change.

Brown rice flour or bajra atta?

Brown rice flour has a milder rice flavour; bajra atta has a stronger, earthy flavour traditionally used for bajre ki roti. Choose according to what you want to cook. Both belong in our single-grain flours collection.

Ingredient and gluten information

Rice is naturally gluten-free. A grain's natural composition does not by itself establish the tested gluten-free status of a finished pack. Storage after opening

Keep flour in a clean, dry, airtight container. In hot or humid conditions, refrigerate it in a sealed container. Use a dry spoon and follow the pack's best-before date. Do not use flour with mould, insects, damp patches or a rancid smell.

Frequently asked questions

Is brown rice flour the same as white rice flour?

No. Brown rice retains its bran, giving the flour a different colour, flavour and composition. Both are rice flours, but they may behave differently in the same recipe.

Can I make roti with it?

Yes. Use a rice-flour roti method, make small rounds and adjust the water as needed. It will not stretch like wheat dough.

Can I use it instead of wheat flour?

It depends on the recipe. Batters are more flexible than breads that depend on wheat gluten. Start with a recipe written for rice flour.
